New GHv4 Firmware v0.9.9-23

Our latest firmware drop is here and it’s packed with smart controls, wireless quality-of-life boosts, and a heap of fixes to keep your saber running flawlessly.

New Features

• QuickConnect – Easily toggle wireless features using the power button:

 ◦ Hold for 5 sec: toggle Bluetooth

 ◦ Hold for 7.5 sec: toggle WiFi

 ◦ Hold for 10 sec: reboot and turn off both Bluetooth and WiFi

 ◦ Each action is confirmed with audio cues

• WiFi and Bluetooth now stay active after deep sleep or battery reinsertion

• New "Disable WiFi" option in the Saber Editor

• Auto deep sleep kicks in when WiFi or Bluetooth are enabled but idle

• On WiFi connection, the board announces its IP address via audio (can be skipped by pressing power button)

• New sounds when Bluetooth pairing starts and succeeds (can be disabled via ble_pairing_sounds=0 in general.txt)

• Missing sound files now trigger a dedicated "sound file missing" cue

• New button_reverse parameter in general.txt allows swapping power and aux button behavior

• Beta Blade Canvas support included – more to come in the next update!

Bug Fixes

• Changes to the ignition & retraction speeds in the Saber Editor now apply only to the selected sound font.

• Resolves issues with twist ignition/retraction under certain conditions

 ◦ Tip: Increase twist protection to at least 3000 in both general.txt and override-general.txt

• Fixes issue with deleting override-general.txt in the Golden Harvest Commander

• Corrects inverted controls for orientation=1

How to Update

Installing the latest firmware update on your GHv4 is quick and straightforward. You have two options:

Using the Golden Harvest Commander:

• Open the Golden Harvest Commander web app

• Click on the “Check Firmware” button to download and install the update

Manual Update

• Download the .bin firmware file and updated UI sounds here:

• Copy the files to your SD card (including the updated UI sound fonts folder!)

• Re-insert the card and reboot the board.

• Insert the SD card into your GHv4 and reboot the board

Update Progress Indication:

During the update, the onboard status LED and any connected accent LEDs will pulse, gradually speeding up as the update progresses.
