RGB vs. Pixel: what changes?

RGB / baselit: LEDs inside the hilt illuminate a hollow blade. This is a practical starting point for an affordable first saber and regular practice. Replacement blades generally cost less than Pixel blades.

Pixel: LEDs inside the blade create scrolling ignition and detailed lighting effects. Xeno3 Pixel, Golden Harvest and Proffie Pixel installations use this approach. A Pixel board upgrade changes the controls and customization options; it does not automatically make the blade stronger or brighter.

Which setup should I buy?

  • First saber or practice: start with Xeno3 RGB if budget and replacement cost matter most.
  • Scrolling effects without building custom firmware: start with Xeno3 Pixel.
  • Advanced Golden Harvest editing: compare V4 with the exact features you want.
  • Custom programmed blade styles: consider a preconfigured Proffie installation, then learn the programming workflow when ready.

All can arrive with a supplied configuration. You do not need to program Proffie just to use its installed presets. Sound-font counts, storage capacity and battery specifications vary by package; check the selected listing rather than assuming one fixed number for every saber.

Dueling, blade size and staff compatibility

Durability depends on the hilt, chassis, blade construction and contact intensity. A higher electronics tier does not certify a saber for harder impacts. For repeated contact, compare a suitable baselit setup and replacement blade costs. Check the specific model before using Pixel blades, thin-neck hilts or decorative parts for contact dueling.

For a two-saber staff, confirm that both hilts have compatible threaded ends and the correct coupler. A “double-bladed capable” label does not mean every pair connects directly. Confirm blade diameter, length and connector type, too; 1-inch and 7/8-inch blades are different sizes.

Empty hilts and older electronics

Empty hilt: no installed electronics or blade unless the listing explicitly says otherwise. The lowest displayed price can be the empty option, so select an installed configuration before comparing totals. Older RGBX and Xenopixel V2 options may appear on selected listings; check that listing for current availability and use the matching support guide.
